Cochrane

The town of Cochrane in Alberta was established in 1881 as the Cochrane Ranche, after Matthew Henry Cochrane. Bordering Bearspaw in MD Rockyview it was a village in 1903 but became a town 1971.


Intersected by Highway 1A and Highway 22, and it has not stopped growing since. Cochrane is also a small industrial area, they include lumber, construction, retail, and ranching/farming. Located 18 km West of the Calgary city limits along Highway 1A Cochrane is the second largest town in Alberta.
