The area now known as Signal Hill was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1956 & officially established as a community in 1986.
Signal Hill is historically significant due to its military past. During World War I, the area served as a training ground known as Sarcee Camp. Soldiers arranged stones on the hillside to form large battalion numbers—137, 113, 151, and 51—which are still visible today & commemorated in Battalion Park.
Flanked by Sarcee Trail to the east, 17th Avenue to it's north, Stoney Trail to the south & 69th Street on the west, Signal Hill offers residents access to Downtown & majestic Rocky Mountains.
