Rich History: In the early 20th century, the area was primarily farmland & market gardens, supplying produce to Calgary. A notable feature was a 40-foot windmill erected in 1910 by the Patton family, which pumped water for irrigation & became a local landmark. This windmill not only served agricultural purposes but also aided early aviators as a navigation point. The community's name, "Pump Hill," originates from this windmill, which stood at the corner of 14th Street & 90th Avenue SW until its dismantling in 2002. Residential development of Pump Hill began in the 1960's.
